History
Headquartered in Benicia, California – less than an hour from downtown San Francisco – Underground Construction Co. Inc. is one of the oldest and most respected utility contractors in the West. Since 1936 we have been building infrastructure for varied industries and trust with our clients. We provide a complete range of construction services including electrical structures, fiber optics, fueling facilities, and municipal utilities. In addition, Underground Construction has spent over fifty years working in refineries and on heavy engineering construction projects.
In 1998, Underground Construction further enhanced its capabilities by teaming up with Quanta Services, Inc. Quanta is an integrated, nationwide network of respected firms that construct transmission and distribution facilities for the electrical, petroleum, gas, and telecommunication industries. Our addition to the Quanta family, has enabled Underground to tackle larger and more complex projects utilizing the specialized resources of our sister companies.
As Underground looks to the future, the valuable lessons we have learned through 70 plus years of hard earned experience combined with our commitment to quality and safety, have set the benchmark for today’s Underground Construction employees and resulted in a corporate philosophy of customer-centered service known as The Underground Way.
