Sweltering working conditions in the first months of 2003 were matched
only by the equally torrid pace set by Underground Construction in Chandler,
AZ, where our crew recently completed nearly a half-mile of 12" nitrogen
pipeline in a relocation project for Air Products. Given a limited work
area due to an ongoing interstate work, Underground completed the project
work in a mere seven weeks of construction time, split into two phases to
accommodate and interface with the construction of other contractors.
Superintendent Rich Swanson, Foreman Gustavo Elias-Cortes, Operator Jerry
Blalock and a strong traveling labor force easily brushed aside the grueling
working conditions, which routinely included temperatures in the nineties.
The 12" pipe installed included nearly 100 welds, two-thirds in January
and the remainder in our return to the project in March.
Success in this difficult project proved yet again that, regardless of
project location, safety, quality and production are consistent Underground
traits. Congratulations to the entire crew for another job well done! |
