Safety, Training, and Quality

Underground has a well-earned reputation for emphasizing safety. We believe that a safe workplace is paramount to the success of a project. Safety is our highest priority and we believe that safety, training, and quality are inseparable activities.

Underground’s commitment to safety is evident on any jobsite. Every worker on every job wears a hardhat and steel-toed boots. Significant resources are devoted to safety supplies and equipment. Safety is a part of each and every project, from the bidding phase of a project to completion.

Our proactive safety program includes incentives for employees to remain accident free. Rewards for working safely, driving safely, and supervising safe crews are just some of the incentives. Routine safety inspections of all jobsites are conducted not only by our safety department, but also by every engineer and manager. Underground pioneered employee drug testing.

 Our classroom and jobsites offer training at every level, from safety-specific training to craft training to comprehensive supervisory training. Safety and quality are integrated into the training programs for all disciplines, insuring successful projects staffed by well trained, safety conscious employees.
